Rooibos et Honeybush
Exclusively produced in South Africa, rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) and honeybush (Cyclopia) are from the legume family of plants (pulses) and are in the form of small shrub bushes. Frequently called “red tea”, rooibos is however not related to the tea plant and is actually classified as an herbal tea. Once brewed, their small needle-like red leaves produce a vermilion liquor that is delicious and slightly sweet with woody and honeyed accents.
Non-caffeinated and low in tannin, their liquor is increasingly appreciated for their health benefits due, among other reasons, to their high level of antioxidants.
